In addition to the abundance of attractions and endless vacation activities that Western North Carolina and East Tennessee provides, there are also several park areas and state parks in our mountain region that visitors love. Both Roan Mountain State Park and Sycamore Shoals State Park have great amenities and can make your North Carolina mountain vacation a bit more memorable. Our East Tennessee Vacation Rentals are located in one of the most beautiful regions of the Southern Appalachian Mountains in Roan Mountain.

Roan Mountain State Park is a large park situated on the Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee border. Encompassing 2,006 acres of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, guests at Roan Mountain State Park enjoy hiking and mountain biking through the rich hardwood forests, and fishing and swimming in the many creeks and streams that flow from the Doe River. The park has excellent amenities such as tennis courts, a swimming pool, and great picnic area with grills.

Sycamore Shoals is a historic state park located in Elizabethton TN, which is just a short drive away from Roan Mountain. Here the hiking and casual walking trails take you through some gorgeous scenery along the Watauga River and create some beautiful places to enjoy a picnic or cookout.

In addition to the several hiking and walking trails, Sycamore Shoals State Park is generally known for its historical exhibits and theatre. Guests can stroll through the historic park, enjoy the period displays, and watch as live interpreters depict the life of the early explorers to the region. Guests are also invited to enjoy live performances and music at the outdoor theatre and tour the beautiful Carter Mansion.
