The charming and scenic Northeast Tennessee town of
Roan Mountain has been a very popular and widely
visited destination near the border with Western
North Carolina for several years. Sitting at 6,285
feet at its summit, Roan Mountain’s elevation varies
greatly allowing for unique and exotic plant species
to grow in abundance. In fact, long ago, world
renowned botanists studied the Roan Mountain region
and its varying climate. Today, Roan Mountain is a
wonderful place to visit for a relaxing mountain
vacation. The
Appalachian Trail runs atop Roan
Mountain, and area attractions like
Watauga Lake,
Grandfather Mountain, and the many great golf and
ski resorts means endless opportunities for fun! Roan Mountain TN is perhaps best known for its beautiful meadows that are filled with rare mosses and heather and its abundance of rhododendron flowers. The rhododendron gardens tower above the valleys below and oftentimes visitors find themselves standing higher than many of the clouds below. Each year thousands of people come to Roan Mountain to see the rhododendron gardens during their peak blooming period, which begins in late June. Also, the Rhododendron Festival takes place in Roan Mountain Tennessee annually and draws record crowds each year.
Our spacious, East Tennessee Vacation Rentals are located in Roan Mountain, just a short ways away from the lovely gardens and Roan Mountain State Park. You’ll enjoy the stunning scenery in the Cherokee National Forest and you’ll be just a short drive away from all of the fun things to do in the mountains.
